Helpless Dancer

The Endless Note

P.S. I Love You

I just want to see you
When you’re all alone
I just want to catch you if I can
I just want to be there
When the morning light explodes
On your face it radiates
I can’t escape
I love you till the end

I just want to tell you nothing
You don’t want to hear
All I want is for you to say
Why don’t you just take me
Where I’ve never been before
I know you want to hear me
Catch my breath
I love you till the end (x4)

I just want to be there
When we’re caught in the rain
I just want to see you laugh not cry
I just want to feel you
When the night puts on its cloak
I’m lost for words dont tell me
Cause all I can say
I love you till the end (x5)

All I can say
I love you till the end (x3

It’s all I can say
I love you till the end (x3)

If I ever leave this world alive
I’ll thank for all the things you did in my life
If I ever leave this world alive
I’ll come back down and sit beside your
feet tonight
Wherever I am you’ll always be
More than just a memory
If I ever leave this world alive

If I ever leave this world alive
I’ll take on all the sadness
That I left behind
If I ever leave this world alive
The madness that you feel will soon subside
So in a word don’t shed a tear
I’ll be here when it all gets weird
If I ever leave this world alive

So when in doubt just call my name
Just before you go insane
If I ever leave this world
Hey I may never leave this world
But if I ever leave this world alive

She says I’m okay; I’m alright,
Though you have gone from my life
You said that it would,
Now everything should be all right

She says I’m okay; I’m alright,
Though you have gone from my life
You said that it would,
Now everything should be all right
Yeah should be alright

Valentine Melody

“Valentine Melody” – Tim Buckley

You came to me with fire inside
Your movements and your pride
And asking to be rescued from
The pain you had become

I tore apart the prison and I hid you in my hand
In the blue light of christmas-time santa claus was kind

I wonder if you’ll ever grow
Oh far enough to throw
Away the lies of no and yes
And love my quietness

Or will you only freeze and frown and lose what you have found?
In the white light of easter seas’n will you live again?

Today the coin is in the air
And we are here and there
And where and when have caught us in
The web of violence

I pray to all the world as one that day will bring the sun
In the scarlet light of valentine’s our paper hearts are blind.

“Valentine” – Richard Hawley

Hold me in your arms
may they keep me
sing me a lullaby cos i’m sleepy
i’m scared you don’t need me anymore

bring me to the light of the morning
and take me through this night till the dawning
oh i see a warning in your eyes

and i don’t need no valentines no no
don’t need no roses
cos they just take me back in time no no
now you’re not here

hold me tight tonight sleep will tend me
save me from lonely hours there’s so many
and i won’t get any sleep tonight

and i don’t need no valentines no no
don’t need no roses
cos they just take me back in time no no
now you’re not here anymore
not anymore

and i don’t need no valentines no no
don’t need no roses
cos they just take me back in time no no
to when you loved me only
and i won’t drink no aged wine no no

now you’re not here anymore
not anymore
not anymore
not anymore

Picture In A Frame

Fiona Lawrie (25th March 1959 - 31st December 2008)

“Picture In A Frame” – Tom Waits

Sun come up it was blue and gold
Sun come up it was blue and gold
Sun come up it was blue and gold
Ever since I put your picture
In a frame.
I come calling in my Sunday best
I come calling in my Sunday best
I come calling in my Sunday best
Every since I put your picture
In a frame
I’m gonna love you
Till the wheels come off
Oh yea
I love you baby and I always will
I love you baby and I always will
I love you baby and I always will
Ever since I put your picture
In a frame

Fiona Friday

img_02272

This morning on returning with the dogs from their walk I noticed that our Cherry Tree in the front garden is starting to blossum an example of how the world and time outside my bubble moves on as normal.

011

Today I also say goodbye to our trusted “Ranger” we have had two Range Rovers over he last eight years and Fiona just loved them.

However the current one has hit that age where everything is starting to go wrong, so with deep regret it is time to part company.

As I post the dealer who is providing the new Dancer Mobile is waiting on the paperwork to arrive for the transfer of my “cherished” plate so there may yet be a short reprise for the “Ranger”.

Here is Snow Patrol and “Chasing Cars”

Loudon Wainwright III

Loudon Wainwright III

Todays Fiona Friday track is a cover of a Marty Robbins song by the great Loudon Wainwright III, unfortunately to many known as the father of Rufus rather than the brilliant songwriter that he is.

On this chosen track he is joined by the equally brilliant John Hiatt.

“At The End Of A Long Lonely Day” – Loudon Wainwright III (with John Hiatt)

At the end of a long lonely day without you,
When the world seems to fall in my face.
I’m all right through the day, but the day fades away,
And the long lonely night takes its place.
Another day to wish that you were here,
I dread each lonely night that’s filled with tears.
Oh, I’ve cried and I’ve cried these are tears that I can’t hide,
At the end of a long lonely day.
At the end of the day, I go up to my room,
And I watch while the sun fades away.
And the lonliness there brings me grief and despair,
At the end of a long lonely day.
Another day to sit alone and cry,
It makes no difference if I live or die.
With a world locked outside I just lay there and cry,
At the end of a long lonely day.

At the end of a long lonely day.

Fiona Friday – Ray Wilson & Stiltskin

dscf0890

I have decided to each Friday post some music that either Fiona loved or music which has been of comfort or inspiration to me during my past and ongoing difficult times trying to come to grips with her passing.

Friday night was always a great night either via a curry carry out with a good bottle of red wine and a movie or with Jane, Peter and the girls and a night of laughs on the Wii.

If we were going out it would almost certainly be with Jim and Marilyn, who also recently passed away, and although Jim and I have ventured to Coanes the last few Friday nights, it just ain’t the same.

Here for both of them are Stiltskin and “Rest In Peace”

Fiona just loved Ray Wilson’s voice anytime we would receive a demo or a new song she would say “Ray could sing the phone book for all I care his voice is that good”

Golden Wedding

dscf0142

Today is my folks 50th Wedding Anniversary and if Fiona had still been with us we would be enjoying a weekend of luxury at Gleneagles Hotel.

However with Fiona’s passing this was cancelled and instead I endured an afternoon of torture as Dumbarton lost 3-1 to East Stirling away from home. Now it wasn’t that we played bad it was just that Mark Peat lived up to his reputation as the best goalkeeper in the league and that Colin Brown confirmed his standing as the most constantly worst referee ever to grace a football field, he is without doubt a disgrace to his profession.

Nevertheless we are all marking the Anniversary in a smaller scale with lunch at The Boat House at Cameron House tomorrow

In the meantime here are the Cowboy Junkies with “Anniversary Song”

cowboy-junkies

Finally for Fiona here is Bruce Springsteen and “She’s The One”

With her killer graces and her secret places
That no boy can fill with her hands on her hips
Oh and that smile on her lips
Because she knows that it kills me
With her soft french cream
Standing in that doorway like a dream
I wish she’d just leave me alone
Because french cream won’t soften them boots
And french kisses will not break that heart of stone
With her long hair falling
And her eyes that shine like a midnight sun
Oh-o she’s the one, she’s the one

That Thunder in your heart
At night when you’re kneeling in the dark
It says you’re never gonna leave her
But there’s this angel in her eyes
That tells such desperate lies
And all you want to do is believe her
And tonight you’ll try just one more time
To leave it all behind and to break on through
Oh she can take you, but if she wants to break you
She’s gonna find out that ain’t so easy to do
And no matter where you sleep tonight or how far you run
Oh-o she’s the one, she’s the one

Oh-o and just one kiss
She’d fill them long summer nights
With her tenderness that secret pact you made
Back when her love could save you from the bitterness
Oh she’s the one, oh she’s the one
Oh she’s the one, oh she’s the one

Still My Valentine Girl

img_0195

I have discovered that the grieving process is made up of bad days and less bad days, as you would expect 14th February, Valentine’s Day,  falls into the former catagory.

From one of her favourite singers to her favourite love song her is Doris Day and “You My Love”, originally sung as a duet with Frank Sinatra in the 1954 film “Young At Heart”

young-at-heart

My love is ever you, my love
Now and forever, you my love
You walked into my lonely world
What peace of mind your smile unfurled

Yes and because of you, my love
My wishful dream came true, my love
In my uncertain heart I’m only certain of
How much I love you, my love

Yes and because of you, my love
My wishful dream came true, my love

In my uncertain heart I’m only certain of
How much I love you, my love

Days Part 2

Proper post this time…………..

I have been listening a lot to Fiona’s Playlist on the iPod and Kirsty MacColl’s version of The Kinks classic “Days” came on, I had forgotten how much Fiona liked this song.

Below are both her version and the originalkirsty-maccoll

the-kinks

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
I’m thinking of the days,
I won’t forget a single day, believe me.

I bless the light,
I bless the light that lights on you believe me.
And though you’re gone,
You’re with me every single day, believe me.

Days I’ll remember all my life,
Days when you can’t see wrong from right.
You took my life,
But then I knew that very soon you’d leave me,
But it’s all right,
Now I’m not frightened of this world, believe me.

I wish today could be tomorrow,
The night is dark,
It just brings sorrow anyway.

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
I’m thinking of the days,
I won’t forget a single day, believe me.

Days I’ll remember all my life,
Days when you can’t see wrong from right.
You took my life,
But then I knew that very soon you’d leave me,
But it’s all right,
Now I’m not frightened of this world, believe me.
Days.

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
I’m thinking of the days,
I won’t forget a single day, believe me.

I bless the light,
I bless the light that shines on you believe me.
And though you’re gone,
You’re with me every single day, believe me.
Days.

A Day In The Life

Today four weeks to the day of my wife’s funeral I will be attending my good friend and best man Jim Fallon’s wife’s funeral.

Fiona and Marilyn were good friends and the four of us until Marilyn and latterly Fiona became ill used to spend every Friday night out.

Marilyn was a big Beales fan and would often remind us that she saw them live, a few years ago she gave me all her original Beatles albums many of which had “I Love Paul” scribbled on them.

I Can’t Stop Lovin’ You

Let Ray Charles and Count Basie say it all for me………..

“I Can’t Stop Lovin’ You”

dscf1567

(I can’t stop loving you)
I’ve made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times
(I can’t stop wanting you)
It’s useless to say
So I’ll just live my life in dreams of yesterday
(Dreams of yesterday)
Those happy hours that we once knew
Tho’ long ago, they still make me blue
They say that time heals a broken heart
But time has stood still since we’ve been apart

(I can’t stop loving you)
I’ve made up my mind
To live in memories of the lonesome times
(I can’t stop wanting you)
It’s useless to say
So I’ll just live my life in dreams of yesterday
(Those happy hours)
Those happy hours
(That we once knew)
That we once knew
(Tho’ long ago)
Tho’ long ago
(Still make me blue)
Still ma-a-a-ake me blue
(They say that time)
They say that time
(Heals a broken heart)
Heals a broken heart
(But time has stood still)
Time has stood still
(Since we’ve been apart)
Since we’ve been apart

(I can’t stop loving you)
I said I made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times
(Sing a song, children)
(I can’t stop wanting you)
It’s useless to say
So I’ll just live my life of dreams of yesterday
(Of yesterday)
