“Precious Lord” – B.B. King

Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m worn
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

When my way grows drear precious Lord linger near
When my light is almost gone
Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

When the darkness appears and the night draws near
And the day is past and gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet, hold my hand
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m worn
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

“Can’t Give Up Now” – Mary Mary

Can’t Give Up Now
There will be mountains that I will have to climb
And there will be battles that I will have to fight
But victory all defeat, it’s up to me to decide
But how can I expect to win If I never try.

I just can’t give up now
I’ve come too far from where I started from
Nobody told me the road would be easy
and I don’t believe he brought me this far to leave me

Never said there wouldn’t be trials
Never said I would’t fall
Never said that everything would go the way I want it to go
But when my back is against the wall
And i feel all hope is gone,
I’ll just lift my head up to the sky
And say help me to be strong

I just can’t give up now
I’ve come too far from where I started from
Nobody told me the road would be easy
and I don’t believe he brought me this far to leave me

No you didn’t bring me out here to leave me lonely
Even when I can’t see clearly
I know that you are with me(so I can’t)

I just can’t give up now
I’ve come too far from where I started from
Nobody told me the road would be easy
and I don’t believe he brought me this far to leave me

Ideal for Christmas

seeing red chic charnley

I had the pleasure of “negotiating” with Chic when he signed for Dumbarton in 1995, which is a story in itself, it may even be in the book!

It is safe to say that Chic came with a bit of a reputation but I have to say that in all the time he was with us he was brilliant, on and off the park, he was without doubt a character and was always looking to make people laugh.

During his spell with us the only time his “dark” side surfaced was during the Dick Jackson Testimonial Match against Rangers when he and Craig Moore had a “bit of a disagreement” resulting in both managers being asked to substitute them before they were sent off.

Buy the book as I’m sure it will raise a smile.

Injury Crisis At The Rock

IMG_0159

As Gary Ralston of the Daily Records refers to him “the friendly big mutt called Blue” sustained an injury today at Strathclyde Homes Stadium which will prevent him from travelling on Saturday to Peterhead.

Treatment from the Club Physio was ruled out as Blue needs to be back at work on Monday, thus following a visit to the vet he has been instructed to rest up.

The cause of the injury will be investigated by the Club Safety Officer and a brief report restricted to 250 pages will be available in February.

In the meantime it is strongly denied that the blood stains in the foyer and dressing room are from anywhere else other than Blue’s paw!!

As is appropriate here is Bob Dylan with “Tangled Up In Blue” from the album “Blood On The Tracks”

Bruce Springsteen

bruce3

I have given up my ticket for the Springsteen gig at Hampden Park on the 14th July as this now clashes with our first home pre-season friendly with Partick Thistle, which given the recent circumstances is not a game I want to miss.

All my friends will have a great night if the set list below is anything to go by.

Springsteen always adds in a special request from the audience which explains below the unusual rendition of a Christmas classic during the searing heat of June in the USA!

Bruce’s epic (3 hour) Bonnaroo set-list:

Setlist:
Badlands
No Surrender
My Lucky Day
Outlaw Pete
Out In The Street
Working On A Dream
Seeds
Johnny 99
Youngstown
Raise Your Hand
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
Growin’ Up
Thunder Road
Waitin’ On A Sunny Day
The Promised Land
The River
Kingdom of Days
Radio Nowhere
Lonesome Day
The Rising
Born To Run

Encore:
Hard Times
10th Ave Freeze Out
Land Of Hope & Dreams
American Land
Rosalita
Glory Days
Dancing In The Dark

Can’t Give Up Now

DSCF0819

The above song was sung at Guido’s funeral by his sister Heather and his Aunty Annwenand I can honestly say their  accapela version was BETTER than this 2001 version by Mary Mary, given Friday night’s passing of Bonnie it seems to hit home again.

“Can’t Give Up Now” – Mary Mary

There will be mountains that I will have to climb
And there will be battles that I will have to fight
But victory or defeat, it’s up to me to decide

[Hook:]
No you didn’t bring me out here to leave me lonely
Even when I can’t see clearly
I know that you are with me(so I can’t)

I just can’t give up now
I’ve come too far from where I started from
Nobody told me the road would be easy
and I don’t believe he brought me this far to leave me
