The Endless Note

New Music – Selective Service

Starting life in the shadows of Glasgow, some serious riffs, ear-cracking beats and a meandering hypnotic bass were starting to form a new space within the ethos.

Adding in the instantly recognisable sounds of a Hammond Organ, the world took a huge shift as these four personalities started to feel their groove. Some huge influence’s are more than obvious when you hear the infectious sounds of Selective Service, ala The Clash, The Specials, Grand Funk Railroad with others much more subtle within the mix, listen and you will hear a few ‘doffed’ gesture’s to some respected trail blazers.

Selective Service matured musically over the last 12 months, crossing genre’s with ease, and adding their sprinkling of special flavour to their music. The fusion of soul, dub, reggae & rock has elements of musical schizophrenia, and something the band is extremely proud of.

Alchemists of the highest nature, they blend elements in the hope of producing pure gold however, this gold being their own form of Rock N’ Roll

Here is a track from their November 2010 debut EP

“Greyhound Blues” – Selective Service

Selective Service ended 2010 by re-entering the studio equipped with new cuts which had been road tested on the previous tour. This next effort, entitled You Best Believe, currently on heavy rotation on Billy Sloan’s radio slot, was at the time of writing this blod due for an April release.

The band have just shot their 2nd music video and a host of promotional activities are planned, most notably an instore performance at Pretty Green’s Glasgow boutique. Kasabian tour DJ Dan Martin is also booked to play at the EP launch night, with Serge Pizzorno having given his personal approval.
