The Endless Note

New Music – Frankie & The Heartstrings

Frankie & The Heartstrings have just released their debut album “Hunger” which the NME thought was more a “manifesto” than an album.

The sleeve could easily depict any British city street scene, the band are from Sunderland, however as the first notes fly out from the speakers there can be little doubt that the  “Postcard Records” collective of groups provides a powerful influence captured and delivered in part thanks to producer Edwyn Collins.

My problem is that bands like those on Postcard and others like Dexy’s and Fine Young Cannibals have all travelled down the young soul boy route before with more originality.
