Wednesday Words – To Love And Be Loved

My sister-in-law Jane and her family (including her and Fiona’s mum) move to Kinross today, whilst it may only be under 90mins away it will seem like the other side of the world.

As such it is only fitting that today’s Wednesday Words features one of Jane and Fiona’s favourite Frank Sinatra songs.

“To Love And Be Loved” – Frank Sinatra

To love – and be loved
That’s what life’s – all about
Keeps the stars – coming out
What makes a sad heart sing – the birds take wing

To love – and be loved
That’s what living – is for
Makes me want you the more – the more we cling

Let others race – to the moon
Through time and space – to the moon
My goal is greater than this
To reach your lips – to share your kiss

To stay – in your arms
Is the dream – I pursue
To be sheltered – and safe – from the storm
To be cozy – and ever – so warm

And for always – to love
And be loved – by you

All the Way, released in 1961, was the fourth Capital Records compilation of Sinatra A&B Sides recorded between 1957 and 1960, with “To Love And Be Loved” recorded in 1958.

Capitol released All the Way on Compact Disc briefly in 1988, before discontinuing it in the early 1990’s, howevr, sll the tracks are still available on The Complete Capitol Singles Collection box set.
