The Endless Note

Alcohol Awareness Week

We are now fast approaching the end of the promotion  that was “Alcohol Awareness Week” whilst the weeks events made every effort to get over some very important facts and messages it does not mean we can’t have a laugh along the way.

Nick Drake

nick drake

This Nick Drake song popped up on random play on the faithful iPod last night whilst I watched Argentina v Peru with the sound down.

It features P.P Arnold who I recently posted about HERE

“Poor Boy” – Nick Drake

Never sing for my supper
I never help my neighbour
Never do what is proper
For my share of labour.

I’m a poor boy
And I’m a rover
Count your coins and
Throw them over my shoulder
I may grow older
Nobody knows
How cold it grows
And nobody sees
How shaky my knees
Nobody cares
How steep my stairs
And nobody smiles
If I cross their stiles.

Oh poor boy
So sorry for himself
Oh poor boy
So worried for his health.
You may say every day
Where will he stay tonight.

Never know what I came for
Seems that I’ve forgotten
Never ask what I came for
Or how I was begotten.

I’m a poor boy
And I’m a ranger
Things I say
May seem stranger than Sunday
Changing to Monday.
Nobody knows
How cold it flows
And nobody feels
The worn down heels
Nobody’s eyes
Make the skies
Nobody spreads
Their aching heads.

Oh poor boy
So worried for his life
Oh poor boy
So keen to take a wife.

He’s a mess but he’ll say yes
If you just dress in white.

Nobody knows
How cold it blows
And nobody sees
How shaky my knees
Nobody cares
How steep my stairs
And nobody smiles
If you cross their stiles.

Oh poor boy
So sorry for himself
Oh poor boy
So worried for his health.
You may say every day
Where will he stay tonight.

Oh poor boy
So worried for his life
Oh poor boy
So keen to take a wife.

Oh poor boy
So sorry for himself
Oh poor boy
So worried for his health
Oh poor boy.

A High Fidelity Moment

high fidelity

As you can see from below I am currently undergoing somewhat of a High Fidelity moment with the first stage of an epic adventure taking place on the dining room table.

IMG_0171

The overall reorganisation involves changing the three piece lounge suite, which is massive, to two two seater couches to release storage space for the top 1000 CD’s from my collection together with my favourite 200 LP’s and 100 books.

It is safe to say that none of the above was permissable when Mrs D ran the house after all she had some notion about the dining room table being for eating at and lounge being for entertaining!

Anyway it will release some cupboard space upstairs!

Until the project is complete, target date 31st October, Neil Young says it all.
