The Endless Note

The Specials

The Specials have announced that they are re-forming next year to tour to celebate the 30th anniversary of their debut single “Gangsters” and their self titled debut album.

In 1979 they together with The Clash, The Jam and Bob Marley made up the major part of my listening expeience. The Clash (even when Joe Strummer was alive) and The Jam have never (to date) tarnished their legacy with re-unions.

To make matters worse the driving force and priniple writer in The Specials Jerry Dammers will not be taking part which certainly dilutes any impact they may make.

I won’t be attending and my memories of seeing them at their peak will remain undiminished and their debut album will I suspect remain forever in my all time Top 10 albums.

The nostalgia market embraces another new generation.
