I Bid You Goodnight
Lay down my dear brother, lay down and take your rest
I want to lay your head upon your Savior’s breast
I love you but Jesus loves you best
I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
Lay down my dear brother, lay down and take your rest
I want to lay your head upon your Savior’s breast
I love you but Jesus loves you best
I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
I bid you goodnight
One of these mornings bright and early and soon, goodnight
Now they’re pickin’ up the spirit to the shore beyond, goodnight
Go walking in the valley of the shadow of death, goodnight
His rod and his staff, gonna comfort me, goodnight
Join the wise, there’s a soul to find, goodnight
[From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/a/aaron-neville-lyrics/i-bid-you-goodnight-lyrics.html ]
Lord send a fire, not a flood next time, goodnight
To leave for the ark, that wonderful boat, goodnight
She really loaded down, getting water to float, goodnight
Now be for the beast at the ending of the world, goodnight
He’ll eat all the children that would not be good, goodnight
I remember right well, I remember right well, goodnight
I went walking to Jerusalem just like John
Goodnight, goodnight, woh goodnight
Lay down my dear brother, lay down and take your rest
I wanna lay your head upon your Saviors breast
I love you, but Jesus loves you best
I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight

Picture In A Frame
“Picture In A Frame” – Tom Waits
Sun come up it was blue and gold
Sun come up it was blue and gold
Sun come up it was blue and gold
Ever since I put your picture
In a frame.
I come calling in my Sunday best
I come calling in my Sunday best
I come calling in my Sunday best
Every since I put your picture
In a frame
I’m gonna love you
Till the wheels come off
Oh yea
I love you baby and I always will
I love you baby and I always will
I love you baby and I always will
Ever since I put your picture
In a frame

My number one “Blast From The Past” is an old Frankie Miller demo which came to the surface this year.
“A Bottle Of Whisky” – Frankie Miller
Diamond’s on the corner of her lipstick,
Ruby’s shining with the gold
Wild eyed women in Cadillacs
Helpless with no one to hold.
She stood at the side of the doorway
There was nowhere a poor boy could run
Had a fight with a bottle of whisky last night,
And the bottle of whisky won
She told me to watch from the window,
As she powdered the sweat from my brow
Ah told her I couldn’t stay too late
But it didn’t connect anyhow,
Its funny how small thing’s don’t matter,
When you can’t recall what you have done
I had a fight with a bottle of whisky last night,
And the bottle of whisky won.
Her mama remembered my picture
Her daddy remembered my face
There were lawyers all over the city
There were cowboys all over the place,
In the morning the judge asked the jury,
Can you tell me exactly what he’s done?
Had a fight with a bottle of whisky last night,
And the bottle of whisky won.
The wild eyed women in Cadillac’s,
Out on the street having fun,
Had a fight with a bottle of whisky last night,
And the bottle of whisky won
Had a fight with a bottle of whisky last night,
And the bottle of whisky won
Billy Rankin at Rock Radio played Frankie’s “A Bottle Of Whisky” Demo on his radio show and due to this a Campaign by the listeners has been launched on Facebook to get Frankie’s demo of “A Bottle of Whiskey” released as a single.
The campaign was a success and you can buy the song by clicking HERE

Tears for the second day running this time courtesy of “No Tears To Cry” from the best Paul Weller album in ages “Wake Up The Nation”
If you don’t want to see me fall
Turn your face to the wall
There’s no face left to hide
There’s no tears to cry
‘Cause my eyes have dried
If you can see my wall, dear, from afar
Can’t you see how distant we are?
There’s no way I can lie
There’s no tears to cry
‘Cause my eyes have dried
Time before [Incomprehensible]
You stole the precious mind
Wrapped it up in sin
And sold it to the night
If you don’t want to watch, watch me slide
Turn around here inside
Find a place we can hide
There’s no tears to cry
There’s no face left inside
There’s no tears to cry
‘Cause my eyes have dried
There’s no tears to cry

For some unknown reason in late September early October I found a new desire to explore the music of Tim Buckley and in doing so I bought up most the albums of his which were missing from my collection.
In doing so his debut album “Tim Buckley” became a favourite and this track in particular.
“Grief In My Soul” – Tim Buckley
I’ve got ten thousand troubles, a million woes
I got grief in my soul nobody knows
I got heartaches, I got stingin’ water fallin’ out of the sky
I got a long lost lover, got a reason to die
I got ten thousand troubles, a million woes
I got grief in my soul nobody knows
I got sorrow
I’m in a storm that’ll spare no travelin’ man
I fear tomorrow
Got a love that died long before it began
I got ten thousand troubles, a million woes
I got grief in my soul nobody knows
Got a cold chain
I got rain fallin’ on my head from above
I got a bad pain
I got a gal don’t know the meaning of love
I got ten thousand troubles, a million woes
I got grief in my soul nobody knows
I got heartaches, I got stingin’ water fallin’ out of the sky
I got a long lost lover, got a reason to die
I got ten thousand troubles, a million woes
I got grief in my soul nobody knows

A surprise for me was this great and somewhat appropriate track from the Katie Melua album “The House”
“The One I Love Is Gone” – Katie Melua
I don’t know I don’t know
Where I’ll go or what I’ll do
It makes no difference what I do without you
Oh I love you my darling
But I’ll have to let you leave
Goodbye it’s the last you’ll hear of me
Well I found the bluebird
High on a mountainside
And the little bird would sing its little song
So I’ll sigh, I’ll cry
I’ll even wanna die
For the one I love is gone.
Well I found the bluebird
High on a mountainside
And the little bird would sing its little song
So I’ll sigh, I’ll cry
I’ll even wanna die
For the one I love is gone.
I’ll sigh, I’ll cry
I’ll even wanna die
For the one I love is gone.
