Phantom Limb

Phantom Limb go beyond the famous adage that ‘less is more’ with the simple and often forgotten principle that great music is about playing the right things at the right time.

A seamless amalgam of classic, southern soul, country blues and gospel, this is intelligent music-making with impeccably high standards. Few bands can boast a vocalist of the quality of Yolanda Quartey. A mix of Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Mavis Staples best describe the unique sound of Yolanda’s burnished mahogany voice.

Phantom Limb will restore your faith in contemporary music with their enigmatic song writing and raw elegance.

The band released their debut single, ‘Don’t Say A Word’ and self titled album in August 2008.

The album release was coupled with an in-store performance at Fopp in Bristol followed with a tour of the UK and Ireland.

After an appearance at the 2008 SXSW, the band played an acclaimed performance at the Glastonbury festival, resulting in up coming dates with soul singer Candi Staton.

The album was re-launched at the end of October 2009 and hopefully this time they may get that lucky break which could deliver some commercial success.

Here is my favourite track from the album.

“Run” – Phantom Limb

This was their debut single.

They have a new single out now which can be downloaded from iTunes HERE
